The Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Holmpton were a big success, with around 50-60 people visiting the village hall on June 4.

The hall was filled with exhibitions of memorabilia from the Coronation and previous royal events and a display of craft items made by members of the Holmpton Patchwork Group.

Visitors also enjoyed free refreshments including some wonderful home-made cakes. Children were entertained with paper crown decorating and the Mayor of Withernsea also called in to enjoy the celebrations.

We are all so pleased with how successful the event was, considering we had decided to scale it down from our initial plans due to what we thought was a lack of interest and also because of the many other events going on in nearby areas.

The evening open gardens event at Elm Tree Farm was also well attended despite the weather turning rather cold! Thank you to everyone who has been involved in arranging the celebrations
